CLASS H ISTORY The last few grams of sand arc sllpplng through our hlgh school hourglass as we slt back and remxnlsce through the past four vears The flrst grams began to trlckle through the glass on September 8 1948 If you had been w alkmg around S T H S on that day you would haye seen forty sex en freshmen trymg to look nonchalant but actually shaklng ln the1r shoes w 1th the thrllls of belng 1n hlgh school We all dreaded 1n1t1at1on nlght but when the mght fmally arrlx ed we were surprised that the Sophomore dldn t eat us allye but gaye us a yery enjovable exenlng We elected these offlcers to lead us through the year Presldent Bruce McFarl ne Vlce Presldent Pat DeBrake leer Secretary Robert Parks and Treasurer Carol Lmd Suzanne Schlller reported the Freshman new and Jack Knable represented us on the Student C0l1l'lCll Durlng the year we galned Ronald DeRhodes who came to us from North Llma We must not forget to mentlon that Mrs Kerr was our home room teacher On September 7 1949 forty fue more confldent students entered their Sophomore year of hlgh school Thls year Mr Hanm gulded us through as our home room teacher During the flrst sw weeks Jackle Laughner left us but she was replaced by Sue Klnkley and Rose Becher We elected these offlcers to carry on our buslness transactions Presl dent Wllllam Brownlee Vlce Presldent Bruce McFarlane Secretary Suzanne Schlller and Treasurer Olga Allen Jack Knable Carol L1nd and Warren Mallow represented the class on the Student Councxl We gaye the Freshmen the same treatment we had recelved the year before wlth some added attractlons The Sophomores were also responslble Rex ue a yarlety show whlch IS now an annual affalr The forty fue students who entered the Junlor Class that year were beglnnlng to feel lmportant Durlng the summer we lost Jack Knable and Warren Mallow but at the begmnlng of the year we gained two newcomers V1v1an Whetstone and Joan Baxrd We really had reason to feel Important because th1s IS the year of our flrst prom and hlgh school play It was th1s year that the JUHIOTQ began to get that money maklng gleam IH thelr eyes To help quench thls thlrst for money we rented a Coke m3Ch1ll6 sold refreshments at football and basketball games and held several skatlng partles The blg ey ent was our play The More the Merrler The Junlor Fall Carnlval was a gala eyent Everyone lncludmg our class sponsor Mr Moore worrled about the outcome of the carnlyal After It w as all ox er exeryone agreed that lt had been a blg success We elected the followmg class offlcers Presldent Bruce Mel' arlane VICL Prcsxdent Blll Brownlee Secretary Suzanne Schlller and Treasurer Cultle Guterba Our Stu dent Councll members were Carol Lmd Olga Allen and Ronald De Rhodes Now we have arrn ed at the cllmax of our hlgh school l1fe After losmg Carol Llnd we galned Joyce Haren to keep our number at forty flye ln the Senior Class There IS one goal that each Senlor IS w orklng tow ard that IS the Senlor trlp at the end of the year To collect money for thls trlp we haye presented two dances the Senlor play Three Kontmucd on Page 03 1 ' lf J 1 ' I ' 7 L' .Q . . , r.
