As we are beginning our last year at Springfield Local School, all of ue realize that we will soon be going our separate ways. We soon will have reached one of our goals in life-graduation, but we will always move on to more goals. To help us remember our days at S. H. B. we will be publishing some of our memorable occasions as they happen. we want to express sincere thanks to Hrs. Casad for all the help she will be giving us, to Mr. Smucker and all others who will be making the annual possible. Points for scholarship awards are based on the final grade inasubject Only four subjects are counted in one year while subjects carried onl half a year earn half the points from that grade A s re ceive fifteen points, B's ten and C's five points A minus subtracte two points and a plus adds two points Extra points are given for activities such as orohes tra and glee club For these activities, an A earns five points, E's three points and C's one point Also school citizenship credit of five points may be voted by the faculty Total points required for an A award which is a 6 inch chenille letter, old gold on blue background are as follows Sophomore, 140, Junior, 190, senior, 240 Each year that a student attains the A award re- quirement, an additional letter with a blue stripe will be awarded The B award is a 4 inch felt letter, old gold on blue background and to receive lt, a sophomore needs a total of 120 points, a Junior 150 and a senior 180 points This year Miriam Au receives an A award with two stripes Robert Burtzlaff, Robert Brantlngham and Hary Sprunger all will be awarded the A letter Darrell Rader,Bruce Smith and Margaret Retler will re oeive the B award 2 EDITOR HIRLAM AU Miriam Au Robert Brantingham Vhledlctorian Salutatorian we would like you to meet our annual staff Miriam Au, our editor has the job of setting up the annual and directing the work to be done on it Our art editor Joan Danals, does all of the art work which includes drawing the ads and de signin? the cover The typlst Margaret Hetler is responsible for all of the tvping Darrell Rader Robert Brantingham, and Robert Burtzlaff sell ads which help finance the annual Our re porters are Mary Sprunger and Bruce Smith while subscriptions are being taken by Judy Price

First let me present the other members of the school board, Mr. John Leppo, Clerk Mr. ROUBPV Bonhgm, Mp, Robert walker, Mr. Glade Mentzer, and Hr, Jay walker. All payments must he authorized by the school board and checks must be signed by myself and Mr. Leppo.' 'Nr reinloh Mrs Brelnich is the school secretary She keeps the school records in order,types out tests and takes care of the secretarial work, besides taking care of skinned knees Mrs Wells the office bookkeeper also assists in selling supplies mimeographlng, and she acts as lunch cashier In general, they both keen every one happy Mr Community 'I understand theme 1 to be a new elementary school building What can you tell us about it ' Mr Marshall 'To start at the beginning, a new elementary building of ten or more classrooms, depending on the cost of materials, was author ized by the voters at the November election The bonds for S32 000 thus authorized were pur chased by the First National Bank of Mansfield Lard is also being purchased directly north of the present school ' . Community: 'When ls construction supposed start2' , Marshall: 'Bidding from contractors is soon be opened.
