It was late in August and we were attending South High School for the first time as students. School hadn't officially begun but we were there with our parents amidst faculty members, student boosters, and adult bdosters trying to find our new schedules and learn the in's and out's of life at South. The evening was unbelieveably hotg the schedules were unbelieveably confusingg and the speeches were unbe- lieveably long but we stayed and we learned. We finally figured out which IBM number told us who our counse- lor was and which division met in what room. The whole evening left us a bit overwhelmed but everyone was con- fident that we would soon learn the routine and find our way around. Yes, we were welcomed and we were now a part of Wildcat Country.
