Among the other activities, there was a Christmas party, which included a continuance of a Charlie Brown skitg an ice skating party at Snyder Park, and a spring picnic for the graduating seniors. :sf JEIQLY Fout, Debbie Hill, Linda Holm, Sharon McLaughlin, Leroi Sutton, and Diane Lyon canvassed the homerooms to sell copies o ccents. Highlight the Year for English Club English Club, under the sponsorship of Mrs. Austin, presents a wider look into the field of literature and the arts than would normally be found in the classrooms. Among the numerous activities of Eng- lish Club, which included Patricia Rooney, from the Sun and a South High alumna, who spoke about the blessings and hard- ships of college, there was also a Coffee- House in January, which gave the mem- bers of North, Catholic Central, and South an opportunity to indulge in an hour and a half of refreshing musical entertainment. Accents, a booklet containing original poems and essays from South High stu- dents, is another acomplishment of Eng- lish Club. Accents is an annual project of the club. Kathy Yowler and Nataline Settles were two of the people who read excerpts from Spoon River Anthology at the February meeting of English Club. 8l

Among the activities for German Clubs this year were a combined initiation-picnic in No- vember, a discussion of sports and awards, and a speaker, Marilyn Fent, who spoke about life in Germany during recent years. The German Club, open to all students taking Ger- German man, seeks to add in- terest to the course by in- troducing siclelights of German customs and cul- ture. German Writer Goethe Discussed in German Club John Auld, president, discusses the life and writings of the German writer, Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe.
