BACK ROW: Rick otkin, Dave Gentry, John Storm, Dennis Jones, and Keith Payne. Qnto Honor ociet On May 1, 1968, 30 seniors and 10 juniors were inducted into the National Honor Society. Mr. Robert Rolfes and and Miss Dorothy Drautwater were made honorary members of the South High chap- ter. This was the first year in which juniors became a part of the Honor Society. It was also the first. time a reception followed the ceremony. lniliates and their parents, and teachers were invited to attend the re- ception, which was held in the library. All seniors had to have a 3.0 grade average for all three years while the juniors had to have a 3.5 grade average for their sophomore and junior years. Both groups had to eiccel in leadership service, and char- acter. The last three qualities are estimated in a highly detailed report for each candidate by his subject and homeroom teachers, club sponsors, and counselors for all three years of high school. On the appointed morning, several soph- omores answered the trumpet call to tap those seniors and juniors selectedg at the same time parents received an invitation by mail to attend the initiation.
