The major activity of the band this year was the joint band concert with North High School, honoring Southls past di- rector, Mr. Philo Botsford. This concert was held on May 17 at North High, honoring Mr. Botsford for his many years of service. This year the band had fund-raising drives to raise money for the purchase of new band uniforms. Members of the band sold bonds and collected coffee labels which were redeemed for money. The Band Parents Association also raised money for the new uniforms by sponsoring Tag Day and operating the concession stands at the basketball and football games. Many long hours of practice were required by the band to make their concerts and other activities successful. IIO

Even on the coolest days the band is on the field practicing to make their routines perfect. Band Promotes Enthusiasm Highlighting every home football game is South High7s Marching Band. Under the leadership of their new director, Mr. Amerman, the marching Wildcats entertained football spectators with complicated formations and special majorette routines. The band kept spirit at a high pitch with bursts of fight songs whenever points were scored. Many hours of training and tedious practice were spent by band members during the summer sessions and at band camp. The enthusiasm and hard work of members in rewarded through citywide Tag Day and Band Parent's Association.
