KEY CLUB The 103 member North Key Club is one of the most active clubs at North. It is sponsored by the Springfield Kiwanis Aub. Throughout the year the club participated in such activities as the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl-a-thon, Cystic Mbrosis Walk-a-thon around Springfield. Key Club sponsors Career Day at North and shopping sprees for under- irivileged children at Christmas and Easter. In addition, the club hosts a Grandparent Luncheon and coordinates Teacher Appreciation Week. It also organizes Channel 2 TV ' s Food For Friends canned food drive at the North and I Coordinates the Police — faculty basketball game. The North Key Club received many awards this year. At the Ohio District Convention it was awarded third place out if all other clubs with membership over 60 people for service. The club received first place in the Dayton-Springfield irea for overall achievement. Key Club ' s advisor, Mr. Conrad Turner, received a Citation by the International board of directors of Key Club for his outstanding guidance and leadership. In addition, the North Key Club President, Boyd ' atton, was named outstanding president for the Dayton-Springfield area. After 28 years of service to North High School, Asst. Principal Conrad Turner recently made the decision to retire. Mr. Turner started his career at North in the fall of 1960 when the school was founded. He was one of the school ' s first guidance counselors. Three years later he became Asst. Principal. He has held that position for the past 25 years. During those years his primary responsibilities have been discipline, scheduling, student activities. Student Council and Key Club. The students, faculty, and staff of North High School wish him the best In his retirement.
