The 1971 initiation of forty-six members into North ' s chapter of the National Hon- or Society was a blending of the new and the old. The newly-revised ritual at- tempted to make the speak- ers ' messages more meaning- ful to the students. Also, a new post of Historian was created. In that role Kathy Gebele explained the history of the society. Greater stu- dent involvement in the as- sembly was obtained with the inclusion of the orches- tra ' s and Varsity Women ' s Glee Club ' s presentations. Bowing to tradition, as in past years, the speakers re- presented the society ' s ideals. Tom Wilson served as Regent of Honor; Ken Elder; Torch bearer; Mary Hughes, Schol- arship; Vencia Ball, Char- acter; Eric Wagner, Service; and Peggy Duncan; Leader- ship.
