Orchestra: Artistry In Sound Outstanding performance of the day was the apt com- ment made about the North High orchestra by one of the judges at the Ohio State Or- chestra Contest. For the sixth consecutive year, the group received a superior rating. Adding to the orchestra ' s honor, this year more students from North than from any other school qualified for the All-State Orchestra. The sev- en students who performed in this special orchestra were Cindy Cooke, Joanne Hulick, Marty Roby, Darlene Sedoris, Maureen Stephens, Eric Wagner, and Michele Walls. The 1971 orchestra ' s reper- toire ranged from classical Beethoven to contemporary Stravinsky to Feuer and Mar- tin ' s Guys and Dolls. At the winter and spring concerts, Darlene Sedoris (cello), Candi Slusser (cello), Maureen Stephens (violin), Eric Wag- ner (oboe), and Tom Wilson (French horn) were featured as soloists. Long rehearsals, calendar sales, contests, concerts, and fun kept the 1971 Symphonic Band continuously involved in something. Band members got a chance to do their own thing at concerts with solos, trios, and quartets. Guest musicians this year included the Chenowiths, who soloed on the French horn and the trombone, and the South High trombone section.
