Self-appointed agents of law and order (Gary Miller, John Woodrow, and Ed Varno) disrupt the peaceful existence of the runaways (Gale May, Jim Hagen, Patti Smith, and Curt Britton). The situation explodes when Collin (Curt Britton) is shot during the confusion. Sobered by tragedy, the townspeople regret their misguided intervention in a family quarrel.

Dolly (Patti Smith) prays for guidance. Misunderstanding Explodes Verena (Peggy Duncan), the family breadwinner, asserts her authority. A Southern home, a tree house, and flashlights pro- vided the atmosphere for THE GRASS HARP, a drama in two acts by Truman Ca- pote. Simple-minded and overprotected Dolly Talbo (Patti Smith) escaped to a tree house in order to pro- tect her dropsy cure recipe from the ambitions of her older sister Verena (Peggy Duncan). Sharing her exile were Dolly ' s ward Collin (Curt Britton), the maid Catherine (Gale May), and Judge Charlie Cool (Jim Hagen). After a romance, a fish bowl bath, and a shoot- ing, a bittersweet ending re- sulted as the sisters were reunited. Blackberry wine, a glowing fire, and congenial company (Patti Smith, Gale May, Jim Hagen, and Curt Britton) warm a chilly night in the woods.

Coming Home 1970 Homecoming 1970 began in the crackling blaze of the pep rally ' s bonfire. Excite- ment mounted at pregame activities as the new queens arrived in sputtering antique cars and were crowned while North ' s marching one hun- dred performed Lara ' s Theme. With victory as their goal, the Panthers unleashed their muscle to overpower the Centerville Elks, 20-8. As the grid faded, into focus came the Back When dance floor with its old-fashioned lampposts and checkered tableclothes. The colorful balloons suspended from the rafters floated to the floor during the traditional Queens ' Dance. The subsequent pop! pop! of bursting balloons interrupted many romantic moments. Eleven-thirty came, amplifiers were unplugged, bright lights flicked on, and Homecoming 1970 was over. Flustered Flannery flips Dee Dee Downs and Paul Chat- field dance Eskimo style.
