Band practice is a familiar scene around Holland High School every Tuesday and Thursday Here they are practicing for their annual concert March 30 ILOAA., tP1ctures on page 405 OFFICERS Cliairwoman Rita Poling Secretary Dolores Mierczynski Adviser Mrs Luttrell High School Council Representatives Rita Poling Dolores Mierczynski Duane Colbry Halick DeRush The Iunior Red Cross cabinet of our school is very active organization The group is made up of home room representatives who were appointed by the home room teachers lf a rep resentative is chosen during his freshman year he remains a representative all through school The Iunior Red Cross promotes many activi ties but we here at Holland support only two of them. They are the filling of gift boxes for overseas shipment and the making of holiday favors for the various hospitals and institutions surrounding Toledo. Four people are chosen to attend the l-ligh School Council meetings which are held at the Toledo chapter headquarters of the American Red Cross. These four people are choseh by the home room representatives. Each year a new freshman is chosen but the others remain as delegates. Duane Colbry and Rita Poling have received great recognition at chapter headquarters. Duane was chosen secretary of the High School Council and Rita was chosen vice president Rita received two other honors also She was chosen to help with the adult fund cam paign by being on a speakers bureau and was also chosen as one of two delegates to the National Red Cross Convention which was held in Detroit last summer Let s hope that the rest of the Council dele gates continue in this path of fame at head quarters lt will be up to the people of the stu dent body to help these delegates to give a favorable report at the High School Council meetings by co operating to the fullest extent with their home room representatives Bnwluzq, Klub The Bowling Club was a new club this year lt was made up of twelve girls who bowled each Monday night at the Maumee Recreation Alleys. Three teams from Holland bowled against three teams from Maumee High School. This gave the girls an added recreation that they would not ordinarily have had. It gave them a goal to work toward-out-scoring the Maumee girls. All the girls agree that bowling is a lot of fun and a great way to spend their time and money. A dinner was held in May to climax a happy and successful season.
