As the season rolled on and the players gained experience, they were moved up to the Varsity squad. Paul Mohr, Don Dickerson, Jack Bade, Len Bucher, Lewis Cramer, and Dick Hughes were moved up to the Varsity team and proved to be valuable players. Even with the loss of these players, the Reserves continued to improve and ended the season as a well balanced team. The Reserve had only seven players at the end of the sea- son, but all will be back next year and with the experience gained this year should pro- vide a nucleus of a championship team next year.

BASEBALL W gli . isa: fe- .. . :req l - rv-.p rt- v--- . . , FIRST ROW: Robert Dickerson, Donald Dickerson, Richard Hughes, John Bade, Robert Kolasinski, Paul Mohr, Edwin Burgin, Samuel Scott, Richard Smalley. SECOND ROW: Raymond Augustyniak, Albert Szymanowski, Earl Cain, Arthur Woods, Donald Woods, Stephen Kokocinski, Benjamin Atherton. ABSENT: W. A. Fulghum, Coach. 1946 Holland opened their baseball season in the spring of 1946 with a game against Macomber and lost by a score of 5-1. The next game was with Waterville and they also lost this one by a score of 3-1. In the next two games against Whitehouse, the series was split, Holland won the first by a score of 6-5, and Whitehouse the second by a score of 7-5. Holland then visited Monclova and came home after making only three hits and' losing by a score of 14-2. In a return game with Water- ville, Holland again lost by a lopsided score of 11-1. Whitmer visited Holland, but it wasn't very suc- cessful as Holland scampered to a 7-5 win. As Holland moved into the Lucas County Tourna- ment, they drew Monclova and were shut out by a score of 5-0. This ended the Tournament for Holland. Through graduation the '46 team lost eight players: George Kent, Paul Cairl, Harold Cramer, Louis Noe, Ray Smalley, Joe Johnoff, Ray Myers, and Ralph Szymanowski. 1947 During the 1947 season, the Holland team played its first game against Whitehouse, and lost 10-2. Holland won its second game by a score of 5-2 against Waterville. In the Lucas County Tournament at Swayne Field, Holland met Whitehouse and won by a score 11-1. For their second game of the Torunament, they met Monclova, but the game was called be- cause of rain in the third inning. The following day the two teams met at the DeVilbiss ball park, and again rain ended the game, this time in the sixth inning at a score of 5-0 in favor of Monclova. Holland did not have a chance to prove what they could do because of so much cold rainy wea- ther which did not permit practice and forced them to cancel several games. The line-up for '47 was as follows: Catcher, Sam Scott, Pitchers, Lewis Cramer and Frank Szur- minski, First Base, Jim Johnoff, Second Base Richard Hughes, Shortstop, Don Dickerson, Third Base, Tom Kiger, Left Field, Roy Tibbits, Right Field, Paul Mohr, Center Field, Art Wood. Substi- tutes were: Catcher, Frank Gozdowski, and Bob Kolasinski, Pitcher, Jack Bade, Frank Sniegowski, and Jack Stone, Infield, Al Szymanowski, Outfield, Fred Hott, Don Kulwicki, Richard Katafiasz, Ray Augustyniak, and Perry Hall. Although the season began late and rain did not permit many opportunities for practice, Coach Barnes has done an excellent job with these boys. This year's schedule for the remaining games of the season include Waterville, Whitehouse, Ottawa Hills, Macomber, and Woodward.
