During the school year 1946-1947 the Holland Band took part in a great number of school activi- ties. They played at Pep meetings, special pro- grams and at football games. The first really important event of the year was the Swanton Corn Festival on Spetember 21, 1946, where the Band won first prize in the contest for the local school bands. The Band was very proud to bring our school's name to everyone's attention in this way. All through the football season the Band attend- ed all but one game, and was a real boost to the morale and school spirit of all. On October 4, 1946, the Band had what could be called a Band Day . Leaving the school in the morning they went to Oak Harbor for the Home- coming for Veterans. After a long march they re- turned to Toledo to have supper at Grace E. Smith's Cafeteria. From there they went to Wau- seon where they cheered the victory of a hard fighting football team. ' Through graduation this year the Band will lose four members who have played during their four years of high school: John Miller, trumpet: Don- ald Bridges, clarinet and saxophone: Joyce Pollock, clarinet: and Earle Davoll, bass. lil' l I r
