B. J. BISHOP, B.S., M.A. Supervisor SPRINGFIELD LOCAL Scnoons For the past five years Mr. Bishop has capably served as the Supervisor of the Springfield Local Schools. Although administrative duties occupy most of his time, no problem is too small to receive his attention. He is always willing to talk with any students about their difficulties. Through individual counsel with mem- bers of the Senior Class, he has encour- aged many to continue their schooling, and has aided others in the selection of their life's work. The enrollment for the school year, 1946-47, was approximately twelve hun- dred. This increase, of nearly two hun- dred pupils over last year, created a critical housing problem. ln 1945 a bond issue was passed to provide for enlarging and improving the present school build- ings, but, because of the increased cost of building materials and labor, the contemplated building program has of necessity been temporarily delayed. HAROLD E. RYDI-ze, B.S., M.S., M.A. Superintendent LUCAS COUNTY Sci-iooLs Mr. Ryder is completing his seventh year as Superintendent of the Lucas County Schools. Besides supervising all the schools in the county, he helps in solving many complex problems of state and national importance. He is a past president of the National County Super- intendents' Association, a member of Ohio Reading Circle Board, and actively participates in many other educational and civic organizations. His thorough understanding of school problems has enabled him to elevate the schools of Lucas County to a high place in the Ohio public school system. ' if . 4 ' I 4:
