The Divine Planner has seen to it that always there is such a portal, and that it is accessible, Many people think opportunity means a big or in- viting door, but this present one may be small and plain. Because people do not understand that this one is theirs, mistakenly they say there are no opportunities. Every door opens on the same possibilities. Every career stretches or shrinks to the size of the person who makes it. We hope the past twelve years have been val- uable to you. Valuable in memories, experi- ence, and most of all in learning. The Spring- field Local Board of Education and staff have diligently strived toward this goal. Your ac- tions and endeavors from this time forward will provide the proof of our joint efforts. Con- gratulations to you, the class of 1966, for your accomplishments thus far. As you start the next part of your trip through life's road, re- member there will be a small part of us walk- ing with you. MR. Long Drama Club is what might be called a stepping stone to Thespians. All future Thespians must belong to this club. A total of 10 points must be earned through parti- cipation in actual acting, stage work, or other things related to dramatics in order to become a Thespian. Thespians are outstanding students of dramatics. They love acting and have earned the needed 10 points. Each year trophies are given to the best actors and actresses, plus the best Thespian. 56 95151 l I7 ..,. gf .1 . . , f ff 1 1 , . 1 P . . , R a ra- V S . .Q ,f Hfb' ' AJ E A 'f 1 1'LL . ilr . Coach and Mahoning County Coach of the year. rton, Coach Klingensmith, Coach Mancini, Paul Grim, Stan Even though our great team didn't win the State Championship, we have every reason to be proud of them. They had the toughest season ever played by any one team at S. L. H. S., including the team of 1963 which went to state, Some ofthe games were a little rough, but our team gave their very best, working to the last seconds of the games. Our team had experience, size, speed, good shoot- ing, determination, and S.L. The boys worked hard, hustled and improved with each outing. Their im- provements were in all aspects of basketball, from shooting to strength. I am sure that the boys who worked hard with the reserve team will make fine varsity basketball play- ers in the years to come, Their season of 14 wins and 4 losses, taking into considera- tion the schedule they played, shows their accomplishments. Why, you're practically sitting on the edge of space, with no limits at all to your potential! Whatever the field you choose just now, it's waiting for a break-thru. Enter Science--and you'll head for the moon. Choose Medicine--and you and your generation will probably stamp out most of the major dreads of humanity. Take the .Arts--and you're on the verge of real excitement: new ways in which even the government is helping to spread the joys of it all! How lucky you are, new Graduate! McKELVEY'S CONGRATULATIONS to the Class of 1966 YOUTH AND THE WOR LD There is many a battle that's yet to be won, There is many a glorious deed to be done, The world is still young!
