As the day of graduation ap- proaches we are filled with mixed emotions. We are very happy to see our young men and women achieve their educational goals in the second- ary school. We are also proud to see them go forth to take their places in industry or college preparation for future life. Those of us who have had the pleasure of teaching and in extra- curricular activities working closely with the graduating class are reluctant to see such a fine group leave. How- ever, as the word commencement in- fers, this is the beginning of a new and fruitful phase of life, one which will in addition bring honor and glory to the high school they have served so well. My sincere best wishes for lives marked by devotion and service to your fellow men. DR. WILLIAM J. NUNAN ADMINISTRATION Graduation is another landing in your climb up the endless stairs. Twelve big steps and it seems like the top has been reached, but actual- ly how high have you climbed? One day is finished, now begins another . . . a climb through college, technical school or an appreticeship. Whatever task you undertake it will have an end- ing, then a beginning, with the end beginning another. As you approach your day, do your best to succeed in your task, enioy the past, live in the present, and anticipate the future. BRUCE B. MORGAN

You have progressed through Spring- field High School during years of rapid growth and have both felt the growing pains and enioyed the facilities of a new high school building. ln this, your class is rather unique. The present junior high classes have not experienced double ses' sions, crowded classes and watching the new high school being constructed. From this you have lived much of life itself. Whereas, you have suffered the problems of a crowded school and looked upon the new building with awe and great expectation, to classes in the future As you leave to take your places in colleges, business, or industry, you can rest assured that your contributions to the development of our fine school have been eminently worthwhile. Do not feel, however, that our interest in your wel- fare stops when you graduate. Your suc- cess after graduation contributes as much to the reputation of our school as your work and activities while you were here. May we extend our best wishes and rea mind you that we will always be glad to help you in any way possible. Richard K. Smith Principal -E- the new building is here and will be taken for granted. As you enter another door of life, what you take for granted and what you look upon as resulting from work and sacrifices of others will, in part, determine your at- titude to life itself. The best of luck to you. Edward T. Richardson ,luv-13 -1
