It is not without regret that we note their absence, for they have been an important asset in helping us to attain our ideals of education. Sergeant Richard Reed is now serving in New C-uinea and has written several interest- ing and helpful letters to the students which reflect his cheering personality. Lieutenant Charles White is a man who always radiates happiness. This trait of char- acter has made him a great favorite with the students. Captain Harry Kirkpatrick, electricity in- structor, is now serving in India with the Corps of Engineers. lvlaior Homer Ford is another of our expert electricity teachers and his title in itself reflects his ability. Mr. john T. Byers is a sergeant in the Tank Corps. Mr. Byers, of indian ancestry. is the contribution of the science department to the war effort. A more thoroughly capable gift would be indeed hard to find. Mr. Truman C, Hardin, mechanical draw- ing teacher, is now serving as petty officer in the U. S. Coast Guard. On a recent visit he related interesting experiences pertaining to his convoy duties. Mr, Robert Denney is the second navy man among the group.
