JANUARY New Year and New Beginnings January was a fun month as people returned from vacation. Spirits were high at the happy news of the return of the hostages from Iran. The drama and music departments presented a dinner theatre. There were auditions for the Spring musical, a dance, a pep assem- bly and petitions being passed around for the A.S.B. elections later in the month. Top-The forensics club plays around. Right- The varsity basketball team expressed the joy of defeating 3rd State ranked Marshfield. Bottom Left-Springfield students are made into stars. Bottom Right-Roscoe Cole retires after 17 years of teaching. Other Page, Top Left-Brian Lee and Pam Manasco in a touching scene at the dinner theatre. Top Right-The newly elected A.S.B. President, Mike Walser. Center-People dance the night away. Bottom-Kevin Stans- field gets hung up on the way to class. Far Right-Kurt VanEtten gets trapped between a rock and a hard spot.

FEBRUARY Hero Returns to His Alma Mater Victor Tomseth came home in Febru- ary to his home town and Alma Mater. Springfield High was honored as the for- mer hostage told of experiences in Iran. Arena scheduling took place early in the month, A.C.T. tests were taken by Seniors and a winter pep assembly kept people busy. There was also a Valentines Sweet- heart Dance especially for the lovers of the school. District meets came for swimmers and wrestlers to end their successful season. Mr. Wacker, the schools Vice Princi- pal retired in February to go to an ad- vanced job as Principal of Briggs Middle School.
