Social Studies The general objective of the Social Studies program is developing an understanding of and appreciation for our democratic way of life. The student also develops understanding, attitudes, and behavior needed for community life. World History is an elective course for those who wish more history. U.S. History is required for all juniors, and American Problems is required for all seniors. There is also an Advanced Place- ment class which progresses faster and corresponds to a college course in history.
