Club President “Ridi” Maria (Ridi) Sturm, our American Field Service ex- change student, journeyed from her home city of Leibnitz in Steiarmark (Styria), Austria, near the Yugoslavian border, on August 6, 1966. Bound for an exciting year’s experience in the United States, Ridi left her parents, her sister, Ingrid 15, and her brother, Josef 8. Upon arriving in Springfield on August 18, she went to live with her “adopted” American family, Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Allridge, Judy, Janet, and Christie. Adjusting soon to her new surroundings, Ridi became quite active. In school she joined the A.F.S. Club, bowling and volley ball intramurals. In the community she gave several talks, and volunteered her services as a Candy Striper. She was also chosen to the annual Apple Blossom Cotillion. In her spare time, Ridi skiied, swam, read, played tennis, learned piano, exchanged ideas and made countless friends. On returning home, Ridi, having already graduated, plans to attend the University of Graz, in Styria. With her diploma she aspires to teach both English and German at the Gymnasium, a school in her own country. Ridi will always remain in the hearts and thoughts of all at S.H.S. for her warmness, sincerity, integrity and good humor can never be forgotten. We hope that we gave Maria as much in return to cherish forever. The Atthdge Family Stephen 1,aplante 1949-1960 Robert Halt 1919-1965 Cohn Sanborn 1919-1965 59 SEMINARS Science 1st ROW Dennis Hyman. I take it you are Miss Sullivan—” The Cast The Miracle Worker, a play in three acts, by William Gibson, was presented Thursday and Friday evenings, November 17 and 18. The play tells the real-life story of Helen Keller as a child, born without sight, speech or hearing who, because of the inability of her elders to communicate with her, was per- mitted to run wild; and of the heart-breaking intensely dramatic efforts of Annie Sullivan, a young woman en- gaged as Helen’s tutor, to discipline and thus open up the great world outside to the little rebel. ... but shouldn 'I we give the devil his due, Father? “You hear what Miss Kate say?
