Mr. Gustav Speder, director of European tour. Ten SHS Students Ten students from SHS and Mr. Gustav Speder spent 3 112 weeks in Europe this past summer. Fun and adventure was the theme of this trip. The climb of 107 crude steps to kiss the Blarney Stone in Ireland made the elevator trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower seem ef- fortless. The great adventure took place in Switzerland where the touring bus got stuck between a cliff and another bus. Careful maneuvering finally started the group on its way to Italy, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxem- bourg, France, and England. Top to bottom: Pat Maggio, Ann Koch, Sandy Bostian, Cheryl Boede, Linda Marlowe, Sandy Eaves, Alexis Humphrey, Corwin Bentley, Grant Johnston, John Ellsworth, Mr. Gustav Speder. Tour Europe This London fog does wonders for your hair. ConNin Bentley can't get enough of these European girls. 23

They then traveled to Quaretaro, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajua- to, Morelia, and Patzcuaro where they saw the legendary fishermen and their quaint butterfly nets. Other sights included the Olym- pics, the raising of the Tiffany Glass Curtain, and Xochimilco, where the girls rode gondolas and went on a climb to the Pyramid of the Sun. Kevin Beatty and Daniel Behar share a friendly Hello! One of the numerous Amigo song sessions. 24 V uno Adios si No Hasta Luegol Many SHS students were able to capture a strong feeling of interna- tional love and understanding dur- ing the two short weeks from Jan- uary 27 to February 9 while the Ar- gentine Amigos were visiting Springfield. Fifteen students and a chape- rone from various parts of Argenti- na came to Springfield under the sponsorship of the Illinois State Journal-Register. While here, the Amigos visited Governor Ogilvie, the various Lin- coln shrines, and several high schools and universities. As American teenagers, the Amigos enjoyed parties, shopping, and sports. Blue jeans, cameras, and American records were the popular items on shopping lists. Dancing, basketball games, swimming, skating, and bowling, as well as daily parties, filled the evenings. American tears and Argentine invitations were the highlights of the departure as all feelings were expressed by the phrase, UNO GOODBYE BUT UNTIL THEN! A gathering of Argentine hippies! Luis Do Carmo was considering performing at the next Rock Festival. Deb Griffith and Luis Vidart share a very friendly Adios. ss. Y in ..,, Y. WQ X - .I . A short conference between tours.
