VamZfy Fair Assembb tfatirzkea' Girls' Fashions Counselors offered guidance to students in their social as well as their academic life. Mrs. Halberg, Mrs. Steffen, and Mrs. Zeller co-sponsored the Vanity Fair Assembly, which sought to emphasize the importance of appropriate dress for school. They also handled testing pro- grams for all three classes this year, including the new Chattel-Culture Fair Intelligence Test, administered to sophomores. 20 Miss Hausen, College counselor, held meetings conceming college entrance requirements and scholar- ships available under the new Illinois State Grant Program. Mr. Busch joined the counseling staff for the first semester. At the be- ginning of the second semester, Mr. joe Treat became the junior boys' counselor so that Mr. Busch could re- turn to his work in the field of Special Education. The department heads coordinated activities of the various departments, including decisions on course offerings and the scheduling of teachers for classes. Figuring and submitting the budg- et for the departments and keeping account of supplies was a major task tackled by members of this group. They did this with the cooperation of the teachers in their respective fields and with approval ofthe administra- tion.
