Among them were the September Open llouse to give parents an opportunity to visit their childs classes and meet his teachersg College Night in October to enable students and parents to in- terview the various college represen- tatives, the November meeting tea- turing Dr. Ann Pearson as guest speakerg the December Christmas Concert given by the combined choirsg and the April orientation for parents ofincoming students. Christmas Concert replaced the December meeting. 17

Student enrollment at Springfield High School was reduced this year because of the opening ol the new Southeast High School. Less crowding in the halls and facilities oi the school made broader student program opportunities possible. Two modern language laboratories were installed which provided more struction. The supplementary book library was moved to a new and ini- proved location. The former supple- mentary book library became a sec- ond art room to expand the schools art program. In memory of Mrs. Jacqueline VVorthington whose sudden death on November 18, 1967, was a tragic loss not only to her loved ones, but also to her students and her co-workers. Mrs. Worthington, a most capable and dedicated teacher, left many friends at Springfield High who will not forget her enthusiasm for her work and her sincere interest in her stu- dents.
