Nine The Mathematics department offers four years of mathematics to students at Spring- field High School. College preparatory students take one year of Algebra and one year of Plane Geometry. Students who wish to major in mathematics take semester courses in Ad- vanced Algebra, Solid Geometry, Plane and Spherical Trigonometry, or College Algebra. A refresher course in Arithmetic is offered to the Freshmen who need additional training in this field, For those students entering fields in engi- neering, architecture, science, meteorology, statistics, and actuarial work, the complete mastery of all high school mathematics as a background for further advanced preparation is absolutely necessary.
