He is caught between two worlds of experi- ence. The honor of graduating is soon to become the humility of a new and unexplored phase of life. A new be- ginning enlightens the hopes for new opportunities yet is hazed by the sen- timent of the past. The graduate rea- lizes the reality of commencement when he is about to receive recogni- tion for his efforts, materially in a diploma. Yet the diploma is the goal of all, and the realization of what will be left behind after it is achieved is covered by the thought of the pres- tige involved. ef 'E' WN... RN-.4 Too soon the graduate finishes his role in high school. As this scene draws to a close the scenery will reveal few changes but those which have been made have a lasting effect on the players. Xp-I Jeff Cochran points out the treasure chest throne to Pat Wilson. Robin Hemminger and Fred Angel 53 Each student's role demands that he be versatile in many phases of school living. He may become the opinionated bull session member, the typical pal, the lonely individual, the prankster, or the sought after listener. He conveys happiness, dejection, earnestness, authority, individuality, determination, eagerness, doubt, frus- tration, and achievement. The student puts on the mask of learner and en- ters the magnetic phase of acquiring knowledge. He finds the barrage of classes becomes a detached routine. The student's mask is partly re- moved when he becomes absorbed in his social life. His interests direct him in certain streams of advertence. As each actor brings to his role his own personality, so each student brings to his school life his own ideas and aspirations. He is free to collect bits and pieces of life and to add them to his personality as he wishes, but he will always be himself. The individuals add diversity yet perpetuate traditions and innovations as their ideas and aspirations are united with those of other individuals. The student is molded and shaped into a field, but his uniqueness is still the core of his being. . ....,, fav L wi-if E. Concert Choir Front Row: S. Butler, C. Russell, B. Bailey, L.
