The semesters ended with checking the posted grades after much anticipation. The Honors program is designed to acquaint high school students with the responsibility and atmos- phere of college life. Any Junior holding an average of 3.0 or above is eligible to apply for this program at the University of Arkansas and take college courses during his Senior year. These stu- dents receive full college credit for all courses taken. -

26 SHS Hosts Junior This year the SHS Journalism Department obtained the franchise for the Northwest Arkansas district Junior Miss Pageant. Twenty-five girls from the area participated. and the district winner plus three others received bids to the state pageant in Little Rock. Not a beauty contest. Junior Miss is a scholarship program for outstanding senior girls. Connie Clinehens, Fayetteville, was selected the District Junior Miss. Talent Award was given to Leslie Pales, Fayetteville. Achieve- ment Award was given to Patty Watson. Huntsville. The Personality Award was given to Marlene Hata- saki. This award is given by the other girls. Citizenship Award was given to Debra Studyvin of Grav- ette. Nancy Graham displays her athletic ability. Miss Pageant 1 Winners from lel't to right are Marlene Hatasaki. Leslie Pales, Connie Clinehens, Tonia Peoples, and Maria Crider. Springdale's Junior Miss Tonya Peoples takes a winning walk. Karen Grimsley smiles broadly at a ques tion posed by the master of ceremonies.

The 1971 Junior Senior Prom and Banquet was held May 8, after many months of tiring work. uAu Revoir, one of the most outstanding Proms ever given, cost the Class of '72 much money, time, effort, and imagination. The funds for the event were achieved through pop bottle drives, fruitcake sales, T-shirt sales, ink pen sales, and through hard Work at the rodeo. The entrance took lots of time, paper flowers, and crepe paper, gallons of gray, green, and black paint . . wif and paper napkins. . . I ,asv g and more paper napkins. Time out is called after three days of sleepless nights and endless labor. 28
