This and other projects helped them win the Class Service Award for the second year in a row. Q ,,,g, Z, ,, 62 ws ,,,, , G Becoming a Junior means being faced with the challenge of presenting the best Jr.fSr. Prom at SHS. To finance this expensive activity, the Class of '72 had several money making projects this year. Among these projects was the sale of Bulldog ink pens. The class also sold red and white T-shirts and Christmas fruit- cakes. Other fund raising projects included pop bottle drives and Work- ing in concession stands during the Rodeo. The Junior class demonstrated its school spirit by supporting the Bull- dogs with enthusiasm at games and pep rallies. The class ended the year by printing BELLES LETTRES. The 1970-7l basketball season was not one which could be looked 7 back on as a good memory. Al- though the 'Dogs did finish fifth out of the eight teams in the Western Conference, a IO-16 record is not impressive. ln the Springdale Invitational Tournament, Rogers defeated Springdale 65-61 in the semifinals and went on to defeat Fayetteville to take first in the tournament. Springdale beat Siloam Springs in the consolation game to take third place. West Fork was awarded the Sportsmanship trophy. Tommy Ward was the team's most valuable player for the year. Tommy, a senior, scored 998 points in his high school career, was chosen to play in the All Star Game, named All Tournament in the Springdale Invitational Tour- nament, and named All Conference for the second year in a row. '.i,s 'flee xx 4 Sixteen Super Seniors Selected to At the close of each school year, a special faculty committee reviews and evaluates the records of members of the graduating class and selects those with the most out- standing qualifications to be named to the Hall of Fame. This year the criteria for select- ing students to the Hall of Fame were contributions which improved the quality of life in school and community, excellence in class work, diligence in serving others through leadership or cooperation in extra- curricular activities, demon- stration of outstanding abilities in local, regional, state, or national competitions, and generous devo- tion to church and community pro- grams of continuing cultural enrich- ment. Since the establishment of the Hall of Fame at SHS eight years ago, it has served as an inspiration among students, encouraging them to strive for higher goals. The qualified sen- iors learn of their selection at the annual Senior Awards Assembly. This year sixteen Super Sen- iors were selected to the Hall of Fame. Since 1964, 128 students have been recognized and honored as students who, during their four years of high school, excelled in making SHS a better school.
