FOREWORD Our yearbook is a precious thing to us, for it is a record of our four years of sadness and joy in Spring Valley High School. This year the theme of our book of memories is the Olym- pic Games. These contests have always sym- bolized to the world the ideals of good sports- manship, fair play, and friendshipg ideals which can apply not only to the Games, but to all of our high school life as well. The very games themselves find a parallel in our daily life. As the players leap the hurdles and overcome obstacles, so, too, must we overcome thc obstacles which beset us throughout our careers. The record of our achievements, our friends, our fun, we present here. g'The important thing in the Olympic Cannes is not winning but taking part. The essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well. All partici- pants in it. from the actors to the stagehands. devote their utmost efforts to make it a success. Yet, without the whole- hearted exertions of Mr. Scott, the prospect of a senior play would not be even remotely possible. His direction does not end with the supervision of the stage perform- ances. but covers every phase of the show: makeup, scenery, lighting, and costumes. His concentrated devo- tion to these thankless tasks was by far the greatest factor in the success of our senior play. We, this year's graduat- ing class, hope that we can adequately express our grati- tude by honoring Mr. Scott in this book. ri FOR R I ADMINISTRATION all FACULTY 5 X 1 J i 'W 7 MISS?
