Although the armed forces have taken a great deal of veteran Tiger wrestlers, the Daytonites strengthened their team with strong but inexperienced lower classmen. The Valley boys broke even with Suffern, while the Indians pinned them in their first match. The Tiger grapplers proved to be the dark horse team of the tournament by coming in second at the annual event. After entering twenty-two wrestlers in the tourna- ment, the boys in Orange and Black snatched seven medals, two of which were first place medals. For the first time in many years the Daytonites tied the famous Congers' squad in a non league tilt. After conquering every other P.S.A.L. team, the Tigers dropped the league contest with Congers by only two points. Games with Weehawken, West Point, and the French Sailors filled the Soccer team's schedule. For the third year in suc- cession they have held down the second place position. In the latter game, Herm Steffens built up a record scoring spree that totaled thirty points. Despite the tough opposition this season, Co-Captains Gene Levy and Joe Thaxton supplied the added energy that brought the Thompsonites near the top bracket in the county standings. The Tiger Kittens enjoyed a successful season by snatching second place position. The little Thomp- sonites were only beaten by the Nyack Papooses.
