ADDRESS TO THE SPRING LAKE CLASS OF 1987 BY RONALD VOLLMER SPRING LAKE VALEDICTORIAN On the day of Sunday, June 7, at two o ' clock ttiis year ' s graduating class of Spring Lake Higfi Scfiool will assemble in tfie gymnasium. Ttie class of 1987 will be celebrating a joyful, new beginning as well as a all sit together under one roof. We may never be together again, but the memories we have created together will last a lifetime. It won ' t be soon that we will forget those cold, damp fall days on the football field cheering our fellow Lakers on to victory. We will always remember the Friday football game predictions of social studies teacher Robert Halmond, the inspirational lessons of coach Tom Grabinski. and the warm smile of fJIr. Ed Peterson. And then there was little f ike Gilbert, who was the biggest Dallas Cowboy fan of us all. To know him was to love him, and we all did. Now as we leave the past and look ahead, there is a new challenge in front of each of us. we must create new, better, and more memories. As we leave high school and go our separate ways, whether it be to college or work, we have a very important obligation to fullfill. That obligation is to shape the future and make the the world a finer, safer place for generations to come. We have the power through our own hard work and dedication to unlock the dreams of today into the realities of tomorrow. And no matter what part of the globe our endeavors take us to, we will always have one thing in common; our pride as Lakers. School allowed us the environment and tf shaping tools for a true metamorphis to take place. It is a plac where tomboys sparkled into prom queens, where wishing sandk stars were transformed into varsity gridiron heroes, and where tf dreaded cooties gave way to the wonders of love. School is whei kazoos evolved into instruments in stirring band concerts, whei childhood was transposed into citizenship. All the while we wei learning that there is a thriving world out there with as mar resources as we can take advantage. And upon graduation, wonderful milestone in our lives, let us take a momment to reflei and then rejoice, because the best is truly yet to come! 138 Top Ten
