They are the products of years of study and play, com- panionship and solitude, triumphs and defeats, smiles and tears. Through this yearbook may the pupils of Spring Hill be reminded of moments of accomplishment: a geometry problem solved, a seam sewed straight, an experiment successfully made, a report given with enjoyment, a clean victory in sports, an honor earned, or the after- game congregation of students at the local store to discuss events of the day. HERMAN FENTON Under the management of Mrs. Fred Beasley, two hundred and sixty-four hot meals are prepared every day in the cafe- teria, which has three full-time adult work- ers and twenty students who work for meals for themselves or a brother or sister. The cafeteria meals, including one half pint of milk, cost twenty-five cents. Additional half pints cost three cents. I2 MRS . FRED BEASLEY Manager MRS. BILLIE MAE HARKINS Getting an early start for lunch. 167115 Drivers and Cfusfodiaus Fifty miles is the average route for the four bus drivers at Spring Hill, with each trip requiring from forty-five minutes to an hour. Buses transport 250 of the 310 pupils. Seating capacity ranges from a small thirteen passenger bus to a large seventy -two passenger model acquired this year. In addition to these buses the school transportation fleet consists of two auxiliary buses, a driver training car, and an army surplus car. MRS. The climax of our fine season came at the State meet where Ronnie Fountain set a new State record in the 100 yd. Dash 19.71, and 440 yd. Dash C48.5j. Russell Maloney tied the existing 120 yd. High Hurdle record of C14.8J. Richard Fenton won the discus with a toss of 153'6 . They also work in the concession stands at the Junior High football games During homecoming week the juniors sell rnums and boutonnieres for the homecoming game. After football season the juniors take over in the basketball concession stands. All proceeds from these various projects go toward the expenses of the Junior-Senior Banquet. At the end of the year any money left in the treasury is applied on the trip at the end of their senior year. Many of the juniors have extracurricular activi ties. They participate in band, football, basket- ball, baseball, and track. The junior class furnishes three majorettes for the band and two cheerleaders Glenda Blalack and Gwen Elder keep lockers neat.
