' Panthers Open District Play By Downing Indians 57 -0 At 8100 P,M,, October 21, the Panthers assaulted the Avenger Indians with a deluge of approximately nine touchdowns. This win whetted our appetites and caused our anxious anticipation of a very dim disuict championship. , , 4, ,Q 5 DON KEASLER Junior Quarterback Beckville Slips by Spring Hill 27 -26 The Panthers, fired up after a defeat by Union Grove the preceding week, dominated the first three quarters of the ball game. The scoring began in the first minutes of the game as Treadwell took the ball around left end for a touch- down, The next scores were accounted for as follows: Keasler to Nelson, Keasler to Simmons, Keasler on end run. In the fourth quarter, the Bearcats' Weight, plus their desire to win, accounted for four touchdowns in a row, thus defeating the Panthers by one point. Spring Hill 18 Union Grove 27 The Panthers lost their third game of the season to the Union Grove Lions by a score of 27-18. The Panther's scoring started with a pitchout from Keasler to Teaff, which was good for 46 yards and a touchdown. The other Panther scores of the evening were accounted for by Treadwell and Simmons . lv, S- 39,4 4 , 1 JIMMY DON TREADWELL Junior Halfback if BOB SULLIVA N Senior Tackle Mcbeod Slips by Panthers Thursday night, November 3, the Panthers journeyed to McLeod to suffer a 26-20 defeat. The Panthers started the scoring and led the Longhorns completely through the first three quarters and until the last three minutes of the last quarter when the Longhorns tied the score. Then in the closing seconds of the game the Longhorns surpassed the Panthers and defeated them 26-20. New Diana Beats Spring Hill On Friday night, October 28, the Panthers suffered a defeat at the hands of the New Diana Eagles, The 27 -O score is very deceiving of the actual happenings of the game. The Panthers held the Eagles to small margin for the first three quarters. In the fourth quarter, the larger Eagles wore the Panthers down to the point where they could run up the score. -L , 1 ,'5f13'-i I Z, . f fy 55: 9 H I Q1-rzlfl ' Q.. , ,,,.,. .M as -C4212 -4-1 : f ., h Nwgvre ' i ri l' 'A x 42 is GAIL REEL Senior Halfback X Q gk A sv- VL RODNEY NELSON Sophomore End Spring Hill 7, Arp 12 Friday night, October 14, the Panthers journeyed approximately thirty miles to suffer a defeat at the hands of the Arp Tigers. As usual the Panthers began the scoring of the evening with a pass from Keasler to Nelson. The conversion was good. Minutes after the Panther TD, the Tigers made a TD but failed to make the extra point. In the last quarter, the Tigers slipped by the Panthers with the winning touchdown. Sabine Upsets Panthers 33-21 Coach Weldon Strain's Panthers were upset on their season opener by the Sabine Cardinals with a score of 33-21. Although the Panthers came out on the short end of the score, they showed the mark of excellent coaching and a strong desire to win. By this they proved beyond a doubt that Spring Hill had a team we could all be proud of. The Panther scores of the evening were accounted for by Keasler, Teaff, and Reel. For each of these touchdowns Keasler kicked the extra point that made the Panther's score at the end of the game 21 to the Cardinal's 33.
