With the help of our class advisor, Mr. Bassler, we had our very first class meeting and elected Jim Michels, Allyn Bauer, Sandra Brown, and Ruth Ann Davis as our officers. Initiation day, when we truly became members of Spring Green High School, we bowed to sopho- mores and grumblingly carried the books of upperclassmen. That night, we whispered about the stunts we were to do. After our turn on the stage, each of us sighed with relief. During this year we lost four members -- John Bonham, Charles Dickinson, Mike Dorley, and Jerry Johnson. In our sophomore year, we no longer tiptoed (?) down the halls of old S.G.H.S. This year, with the help of our class advisor, Mr. Reddan, we had our first class meeting and elected Albert Haas, Neal Dederich, Charlene Rieder, and Barbara Vorn- dran. We were very proud to carry on the sophomore tradition with our prize-winning Homecoming float, a large toothpaste tube with the slogan, “We’ll brush ’em off with Shamodent”. To end our sophomore year we had a class picnic at Governor Dodge State Park. This year we gained one member, Anita Bailey, and lost Bob Hake. Thirty-seven of us entered our junior year as upperclassmen. We received our class rings and elected officers, Jim Michels, Jim Schauf, Viola Schmid, and Sharon Christianson. We knew our big event this year would be our prom which took place on May 13. The theme was “Under Paris Skies”. The gym was decorated in shades of blue. At one end of the gym was a beautiful fountain which sprayed water under colored lights. The Grand March, played by Monte Hacker and his orchestra, was led by our king, Jim Schauf, and his queen, Carol Blau. Much of the credit for the success of our junior year belongs to our advisors, Mr. Murphy and Miss Rand. Anna Urfer joined our class this year, and Dick Umlauf left. As we returned in September, we found we now had only thirty-four seniors. Mary Alice Weidner and Delmar Feiner did not return. Our officers were Jane Hole, Anna Urfer, Judy Simon, and Anita Bailey. We chose our class motto, “As you think in your heart, so you are”; class colors, green and white; and class flower, the white rose. Our first important event of our last year was our Homecoming. Our king, Mickey Baryenbruch, and his queen, Mary Jane Brummer, led the Grand March. The year sped by. During the second semester, we became engulfed in activities. As we were measured for caps and gowns, we began to realize that our days at Spring Green High School would soon be ending. Our baccalaureate was held May 28 and we graduated June 2. Now, as we step out into life, we fondly remember our happy school days at Spring Green High School. QUEEN CAROL KING JIM PROM I960 UNDER PARIS SKIES D. Fleming, M. Kolan, V. Schmid, G. Layton, P.
