CLASS HISTORY In the year 1951, September 3, forty-five green freshmen entered the doors of Spring Green High School to receive an education. We were an average size class at the time and most of us looked forward to an enjoyable four years. We were out to set a good record for our class and I do believe we have succeeded. With the help of our class advisors, Mr. Mueller and Miss Martindale, we held our first class meeting and elected officers. For president we elected Leo Thering; vice-president, Joe Smith; secretary. Sue Heber; and treasurer, John Hodgson. The sophomores, in usual tradition, initiated us into high school. To show the sophomores we didn't mind their pranks we gave them a return party. During our first year we lost the following members: Neil Phillips and Patricia Thrasher. The year had been filled with many activities and pleasant memories for all of us. We did, however, receive our final report cards which enabled us to continue as sophomores. The following, however, did not return to our ranks: Yvonne Bauer, Floyd Black, Le Roy Gruber, Delphine Ruhland, Margaret Schoenmann and Joe Smith. However, we did gain two new members: Elizabeth Clary and Dolores Wanless. This year we elected Ralph Van Slyke as our president; Elsie Simon, vice- president; Joyce Richardson, secretary; and Darlyne Bowell, treasurer. Mr. Carter was our advisor for our sophomore year. We again lost some members before starting our junior year; Leslie Ewing, Betty Gutwieler, Anton Rose and Bernard Ward; however, Norene Reuter and Anna Doran joined us, while Mary Ann Alt and Elizabeth Clary left during our junior year. Our junior year came and we then had the honor of being called upper-classmen. That year we received our class rings and sponsored one of the BEST proms Spring Green High ever had. The theme was Carousel with music furnished by Hal Edwards. Our president Mike Jordan and Queen Shirley Nelson led the Grand March. Other officers for that year were as follows: vice-president, Eugene Feiner; secretary, John Hodgson; and treasurer, Richard Dixmond. We attribute much of the great success of our junior year to our class advisor Mr. Howard. For the seventh year the S. G. Auxiliary sponsored a junior girl to attend Badger Girls State at Madison. This year the faculty selected Lucille Haslow. Leo Thering was also picked to attend Boys State at Ripon. Now we come to the greatest year in the history of our class, our senior year. We found that Kenneth Strait, Ralph Van Slyke and Anna Doran did not return to our ranks while John Reisinger joined us. Bob Ewers, Jim Gruber, and Charles Butteris left us later in our senior year. To compensate for our junior year, when we elected all boy officers, we chose all girl officers to lead us in our final year. Elected as president, Lucille Haslow; vice-president. Marcelline Kraemer; secretary, Roma Reiser; and treasurer, Joyce Richardson. Mr. Fox acted as our class advisor. Homecoming was most important in our minds at the beginning of the year. The football players chose Jim Gruber as Homecoming King and he selected Marilyn Maxwell as his queen. Also we voted for Morrison Studios to snap our senior class pictures. Then came our big chance to put forth some extra effort and edit an annual of which our class could be proud. In the fall of the year we were measured for our caps and gowns; then in the spring we held our class play. On May 20, 1955. we proudly received our diplomas, which marked the ending of four memorable high school years and the beginning of a new but promising future.
