McCORMICK CLASS HISTORY In the year 1951, September 3, forty-five green freshmen entered the doors of Spring Green High School to receive an education. We were an average size class at the time and most of us looked forward to an enjoyable four years. We were out to set a good record for our class and I do believe we have succeeded. With the help of our class advisors, Mr. Mueller and Miss Martindale, we held our first class meeting and elected officers. For president we elected Leo Thering; vice-president, Joe Smith; secretary. Sue Heber; and treasurer, John Hodgson. The sophomores, in usual tradition, initiated us into high school. To show the sophomores we didn't mind their pranks we gave them a return party. During our first year we lost the following members: Neil Phillips and Patricia Thrasher. The year had been filled with many activities and pleasant memories for all of us. We did, however, receive our final report cards which enabled us to continue as sophomores. The following, however, did not return to our ranks: Yvonne Bauer, Floyd Black, Le Roy Gruber, Delphine Ruhland, Margaret Schoenmann and Joe Smith. However, we did gain two new members: Elizabeth Clary and Dolores Wanless. This year we elected Ralph Van Slyke as our president; Elsie Simon, vice- president; Joyce Richardson, secretary; and Darlyne Bowell, treasurer. Mr. Carter was our advisor for our sophomore year. We again lost some members before starting our junior year; Leslie Ewing, Betty Gutwieler, Anton Rose and Bernard Ward; however, Norene Reuter and Anna Doran joined us, while Mary Ann Alt and Elizabeth Clary left during our junior year. Our junior year came and we then had the honor of being called upper-classmen. That year we received our class rings and sponsored one of the BEST proms Spring Green High ever had. The theme was Carousel with music furnished by Hal Edwards. Our president Mike Jordan and Queen Shirley Nelson led the Grand March. Other officers for that year were as follows: vice-president, Eugene Feiner; secretary, John Hodgson; and treasurer, Richard Dixmond. We attribute much of the great success of our junior year to our class advisor Mr. Howard. For the seventh year the S. G. Auxiliary sponsored a junior girl to attend Badger Girls State at Madison. This year the faculty selected Lucille Haslow. Leo Thering was also picked to attend Boys State at Ripon. Now we come to the greatest year in the history of our class, our senior year. We found that Kenneth Strait, Ralph Van Slyke and Anna Doran did not return to our ranks while John Reisinger joined us. Bob Ewers, Jim Gruber, and Charles Butteris left us later in our senior year. To compensate for our junior year, when we elected all boy officers, we chose all girl officers to lead us in our final year. Elected as president, Lucille Haslow; vice-president. Marcelline Kraemer; secretary, Roma Reiser; and treasurer, Joyce Richardson. Mr. Fox acted as our class advisor. Homecoming was most important in our minds at the beginning of the year. The football players chose Jim Gruber as Homecoming King and he selected Marilyn Maxwell as his queen. Also we voted for Morrison Studios to snap our senior class pictures. Then came our big chance to put forth some extra effort and edit an annual of which our class could be proud. In the fall of the year we were measured for our caps and gowns; then in the spring we held our class play. On May 20, 1955. we proudly received our diplomas, which marked the ending of four memorable high school years and the beginning of a new but promising future. CLASS WILL Roma Reiser wills her hair style to Barbara Raymond. Don Gruber wills his basketball talents to Leslie Meise. Rosemary Kraemer wills her quietness and good manners to Carol Bauer. Doris Longseth wills her faithfulness to one guy to Alice Mueller. Shirley Nelson leaves her nickname, Shane to anyone who wants it. Bob Jordan wills his ability to get along with the teachers so well to John Stoltz. Sandra Walsh has agreed to leave some of her height to Judy Urfer. Mike Jordan, who has more of it than he needs, wills some of his wit to Doug Jordan. Elsie Simon wills her strict studying habits to Don Beck. Betty Vorndran wills her cute figure to Brenda Dimond. Eugene Bindl wills his rosy complexion to Jimmy Joe Schoenmann. Darlyne Bowell wills her dancing ability to Randy Hook. Matey Kraemer wills her ability to get along so well with Mrs. Consigny to Rosie Limmex. Nancy Richards wills her friendly smile and pleasing personality to the freshmen girls. John (Whitey) Hodgson leaves his rugged build and great talents on the gridiron to Terry Brown. Leo Thering wills his intelligence and good looks to the future Senior boys. Dick Feiner wills his winning ways with the girls to Tommy Fleming. Dick Hetzel, as, much as he hates to part with it, wills his wavy black hair to Paul Merit. Sue Heber leaves her cheerleading talents to the future cheerleaders and hopes that they get as much enjoy- ment out of them as she did. Paul Haag wills his charm with the girls, freshmen in particular, to Ronnie Davis. Rollie Richardson wills his acting talents (meaning that superb imitation of Marilyn Monroe) to Bobby Larsen. Eugene Neuhisel wills his muscles to Russell Schauf. Norene Reuter wills her diamond to Bonnie Urfer; however, Bonnie will have to get hers from someone else! Joyce Richardson gladly wills her neatness to Margie Rogers. John Reisinger leaves Snort to anyone who will care for him and make him happy. Davy Banker wills his strong Republican views to Mr. Pratt. Dick Dimond leaves his deep masculine voice to Ronnie Robson. Ken Bohnsack, who is turning over a new leaf, wills his shyness and bashfulness to Carolyn Longseth. Delores Congruent Wanless leaves her geometry talents to Rachel Preston. Gretchen Blynn wills her wonderul sense of humor to Florence Dwyer. Lucille Haslow wills her ability to Go Steady to Lillian Loether. To the Juniors...we leave our ingenius capabilities and only hope that they will use them to put out an annual half as good as ours. To the Sophomores.. .we leave our wonderful cooperation and stamina and hope that they use it to put on a prom to equal ours. To the Freshmen. ..who are so badly in need, we will shoot the works and hope that they will turn out as successful as we have. And last, but not least, to Spring Green High School we leave the many pleasant memories that accompany a truly great class and we hope that our smiling faces and mischievous pranks will never be forgotten. We DORIS LONGSETH, LUCILLE HASLOW being of sound mind, but crazy ideas, do hereby set forth these wishes in the year 1955 as our last will and testament. CLASS PROPHECY As we gaze into the stars, we can see fame and fortune in the future for the members of our talented class. OWEN KING LUMBER CO. “HOMECOMING” JOSEPHINE WESTON, CLASS OF 1953 Died August 18, 1954 IN MEMORIUM Untimely death at age nineteen Has claimed the life of Josephine; Her smile erased, her laughter stilled. She now is gone, as God has willed. A cheerful girl, well liked by all. She's gone to heed her final call; But though her life has reached its end She's not forgotten as a friend. fa.
