The 1956 Ram eleyen. with greater depth and experience. compiled a winning season which will he rememhered for its numerous thrills. rainy evenings. and disappointments. Many of the players who assumed important roles with the latest edition of the Colden Ram eleyen gained experience the previous year against rugged opponents. This experienee enahled the Rams to seize the opportunities whieh the opponents' errors ereated: thus Spring-Ford pre- dieted and did have a winning season. Coach Norman Reichenhaeh. assisted by Robert MeNelly. Eben Cileye- land. and Kenneth Randall. sought and gained revenge against the first opponent. Upper Nlerion. The yisitors were higger and fast. hut Spring-Ford won 20 to 13. The Golden Rams won the next three games against stifl' competition. They defeated Plymouth-YYhitemarsh I3 to tl. Boyertown 30 to 13. and the Conestoga Chesmont champs 6 to U. Fumbles. mental errors. and let-down started the Rams on the down- grade. YVeaker opponents played prohahly their hest and were rewarded with stalemates. Phoenixville tied them 7 to 7. and Owen Roberts astounded them with a 13 to 13 tie. XN'est Chester then gave Spring-Ford its only loss of the season. 34 to 6. The eleyen then rehounded and defeated serappy Goyexnor Miflliri. 23 to 7. Thus ended a yietorious season with llye victories. two ties. and one defeat. Those memhers who didn't play in the varsity games eomposed the junior varsity squad and played similar squads of opponents faeed hy the yarsity. During' the season they won three gzunes and lost the same numher. Although fourteen players will he lost hy graduation. many experienced varsity and junior varsity players eagerly will attempt to win varsity positions so they can have a winning' season next year. the first in the Chesmont League. 54 l Eh
