B y: Johnny Coult er In the fall of '55, 115 dazed fresh- men entered S. C. H. S. We elected MT- Barker, our sponsor, and our Officers were: Pres., Stanley Wassomg Vice- Pres. , Hal Collins: Sec. , Shirley Parks, and Treas. , Linda Hale. Eve- lyn Moyer and Martha Jane Riggs were elected cheerleaders, and Linda Hale was a majorette. Stanley Wassom and Linda Hale were Mr. and Miss Fresh- man Class. There were 104 members return- ing for our sophomore year. We elect- ed Mr. Kirby, sponsor, and our Offic- ers were: Pres. , Stanley Wassomg Vice-Pres. , Paul Tallentg Sec. , Linda Witt, and Treas. , Linda Hale. Delano Cochran and Linda Landr eth were elect- ed Mr. and Miss Sophomore Class. A- gain Linda Hale was a majorette, and Evelyn Moyer and Martha Jane Riggs were cheerleaders. Returning for our junior year were 97 members. We elected Mr. Mueller sponsor. Our Class Officers were: Pres. , Paul Tallentg Vice-Pres. , Stan- ley Wassomg Sec. , Ruth Kelley, and Treas. , Harold Garrison. Steve Butler and Mary Jane McArthur were elected Mr. and Miss Junior Class. Again Lin- da Hale was a majorette. This year there were three cheerleaders from our class. They were: Coleman Smith, Eve- lyn Moyer, and Linda Landreth. We were glad to have the Football Captain, Stanley Wassom, in our class We won the Intramural Trophy and also Field Day. Funny Brats was our Junior Play. One of the important nighlights of the year was our Junior and Senior Banquet. Our theme was Stairway to the Stars, with decorations to empha- size the theme. There was a stairway as we entered, with stars hanging a- bove. Only 80 returnedfor our final year at S. C. H. S. We elected Mrs. Carl Fairchild as our sponsor. Our Class Tallentg Officers were: Pres., Paul Vice-Pres. , Steve Butler, Sec. , Mar- tha Ann Wamplerg and Treas. , Linda Hale. Larry Ezell arfd Rona were elected Mr. and Miss Class. Linda Hale was again Porter Senior a ma- jorette, and Coleman Smith, Linda Landreth, and Martha Jane Degges were cheerleaders. To begin the intramural program, we won the Swim Meet. We were very proud to have Larry Ezell and Charles Cagle as Co-Captains of the football team. Junior Mc Clendon, Delano Coch- ran, Earl Wright, Francis Smith, Jim- my Jackson, and Steve Butler were also on the team. We had one senior girl on the basketball team, Martha Jane Degges. The boys on the basketball team were: Ronnie Degges, Paul Tall- ent, Max Douglas, and Clifford Lemons. Ruth Kelley was crowned Football Queen and her attendants from our class were Shirley Garrison and Martha Wampler. We are now waiting for Class Night hoping that we will be presented the Intramural Trophy.
