FOOTBALL SOUAD Undefeated and untied was the title acclaimed by the 1946 Pirates football team. This great season was climaxed by a decisive, hard fought victory over Royersford which previously won fifteen straight games. West Pottsgrove was the first to fall to the Pirate's long line of victories by the score of 40-13. The leading scorers for Spring City were Doc Thcrum and Dick Fred- erick, who each made two touchdowns, while Ug McKissic and High crossed the goal once. Rounding out the score with extra points were John Nebcrak and John Kurtas, who both split the uprights twice. Schwenkville was next to fall to the Blue and White by the score of 55-0. Diminu- tive Carl DeWalt tore off consistent long runs and raced to three touchdowns to pave the way for victory. Frederick and McKissic took passes from Neborak and Barclay to score their six points. While High, Thorum, Barclay, and Hakun also fought their way across the final stripe and McKissic kicked the only extra point. The following Saturday a strong Upper Merion team was defeated by the Pirates 25-0 at Spring City's Home Coming Celebration. Frederick set the pace by taking a pass from DeWalt for his first T. D. and later carried a kick, blocked by Isett and Kurtas, across the goal. Carl High plunged from the one-yard line for the third score, while Barclay tallied the final six points on an intercepted pass. Big Kurtas kicked the point to round out the scoring. Nether-Providence threw a scare into the Pirate fans by leading the Blue and Page Fifty-one
