CN , f ,M land foremost task on our hands was to choose a dedicatee for the 562 yearbook. We recognized the tremendous change which would overtake all phases of extra- curricular activity next year and the big job ahead for the administration and faculty as Memorial High School opens. Bearing these thoughts in our minds, we selected one man whose contributions to the Spring Branch Independent School District has been as great as his con- tributions to individual students, minds, bodies, and moral character, Head Coach and Athletic Director, Darrell Tully. Coach Tully, originally from Henrietta, Texas, attended East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas, where he later became the assistant football coach. In 1939, he continued in this field of sports as a professional football player for the Detroit Lions. He left this position during World War II to serve in the Navy and then returned to football coaching after the war at Crozier Tech High in Dallas, Texas. From Dallas, Coach Tully moved to Ball High School in Galveston as head coach. In 1957 he accepted the position as head coach at Spring Branch High School. Coach Tully has held other positions over the state which have brought him high honors as a top man in his field. In 1959-60, he served as President of the Texas High School Coaches Association and at the same time he was head coach of the South-All-Star Football Team.
