DEDICATIO Dedicated to the enrichment of the studentls challenge and opportunity for knowl- edge, filled with a personal concern for each individual, a man of strong principles and stalwart character, Dr. Terrel Spencer is a member of our administration who stands ready to be a friend, who helps to bridge the gap between teacher and student, between an expanding curriculum and the student's search for learning. Assistant Principal in charge of Curriculum, Dr. Spencer is almost like a member of the Class of ,60 himself. He came to Spring Branch when this year,s Seniors were Sophomores. He was educated at Mississippi Southern University, and George Peabody College for Teachers and received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Married, and the father of three children, Dr. Spencer has served as principal of a high school in Mississippi and of two elementary schools, and worked in the administration and faculty of the University of Houston for more than ten years before joining the Spring Branch Independent School District in 1958. He is very active in church and civic work and has special outside interest in business and in gardening. The BRUIN Staff has elected to devote the product of their yearls work to a man whose life in some degree parallels the purpose of this book-that of serving others and accomplishing difficult tasks. The 1960 BRUIN is respectfully dedicated to a man of dedication - Dr. Terrel Spencer ,,,,.,, ,WW V , nf VW may ,W ,M X ,, Ng 4 fi A X A X W 4 ' ff iw, W , if Q ,aa 2 may ij W . f ' 1 Z, ,yy A . 252. annul 416-A lun-90,0 M, haf' I TRODLICTIC Nearly 300 pages bound with leather, a mass of printed words and photographs, a story of a year, the result of many long hours of work-all these things might be accurately said of the ,60 BRUIN, but the purpose of such a writing, the reason for the hours and the printed words might not be clear. This year,s Staff has attempted to present the school with an annual which reflects the spirit, the activities, the special highlights, the daily school life, and the people of a living school. Many new ideas and new features have been added this year to the BRUIN'S format in hopes that they will better bring the year of 1960 into sharp focus, as one filled with many memories. We feel that Spring Branch is unique, in that it is more than just a building where students attend classes daily, it is a school that lives. The Editor
