Basketball Squad The Sprague Vikings began the season with 2 returning lettermen, Charlie Hill and Dean Doerschlag. Before the season was over, we had established a reputation as a young team one which the other Bi-County teams had better watch for the next few years. Our season's record wasn't too impressive, winning 6 and losing 14. However, there is more to this record than meets the eye. We played 11 ball games that were deiced by 1 or 2 points. We won 5 of these games. Seven games were lost by a total of 18 points, including the Ritzville game, which the Vikings lost by 5 points. Ritzville ended the sea- son as Northeast District Champions. The Vikings took the customary 3rd place in the Reardan tournament played during Christmas vacation. The Junior Varsity had a rather poor season, winning 4 and losing 11. Many players gained much valuable experience by playing with this squad this year. The honorary captain elected by his fellow team mates was Wendell McMinimy. Sopho- more Steve Culbertson was the season's high scorer. Charlie Hill was again honored by being chosen on the All-Conference Honorable Mention team. There will be 5 returning lettermen for the Vikings next year, plus some players lost by ineligibility. We look forward to having a more experienced and a winning team next season.
