AlThough crippled by losses Through graduaTion and oTher causes, The band. by mid-year, had regrown To a membership oT ThirTy-one. Playing aT all The home TooTball games. and puTTing on The half- Time show aT The homecoming game kepT The band busy The TirsT parT oT The year. l-lighlighT oT The season was The WinTer ConcerT which was en- ThusiasTically received by The public on January 25Th. FourTeen diTTerenT solos and ensembles were preparing To enTer The Bi-CounTy Solo and Ensemble conTesT aT The Time This maTerial was senT To The prinTers. l:urTher plans included parTicipaTion in The ConcerT Band conTesT aT DavenporT in April, and The Marching Band conTesT aT Odessa in May. A spring ConcerT was also being prepared. Marla Jo Doerschlag, Jerry Fox, Sandra Bishop, and KeiTh McDonald, soloisTs Tor The canTaTa. did an admirable iob. Plans Tor The spring included enTries by soprano soloisT Marlo Jo Doerschlag and oTher vocal ensembles in The Bi-CounTy Solo-Ensemble ConTesT. Also underway were plans Tor an opereTTa To be presenTed laTer in The spring. IT has been many years since an opereTTa was presenTed here and inTeresT in iTs presenTaTion was very high. Able assisTance To The chorus was given by accompanisTs Marilyn Palmer and Marcia Melville.
