The Beta Club is a National Honor Society originating in Spartan¬ burg County, South Carolina in 1933-34. The club colors are old gold and black. The motto is Duricamus Allis Serviendo” meaning Let us lead by serving others. The cardinal principles of the organization are achievement, character, and leadership. Our objectives for this year were: Teach in absence of faculty Present a one-act play Present assembly programs Aid failing students Send articles to Beta Club Journal Contribute gift to CARE Plan bulletin board display

STANDING: Marion Ran¬ kin, Reporter; Jay East, Treasurer; Billy Thomas, Vice President; L. R. Vaughn, President. The Spottswood FFA Chapter has participated in many different contests since school opened in September. Although we have not won many we have picked up valuable information. The chapter along with the FHA, held two fun days at Spottswood on Sep¬ tember 26th and 27th. These two days consisted of various games and contests. On the 27th, a riding tournament was held. Four of the Spottswood FFA Chap¬ ter boys entered this tournament. The chapter enjoyed a Christmas party on Saturday, December 20th. At this party we danced, played games, and had refreshments. The chapter presented an assembly program in observance of National FFA week, and also prepared articles for several newspapers. A joint father-son, mother-daughter banquet will be held on April 24th, and our chapter will spon¬ sor the BAR Federation Banquet here on April 29th. Our final activity of the year is the state convention at Blacksburg, and three of our chapter members will attend.
