Knights March To State Title The Spotsylvania Marching Band capped their most successful season ever by capturing the VBODA-Class A East State championship. The band competed in five Vir- ginia competitions. The band placed first in four, second in one and third in one. The horn line went undefeated, and the drum line, considered by many as one of the finest in the state regardless of class, met with only one setback, which they later avenged. Summary of the Season North Stafford Invitational-3rd band, Ist drums, 1st horns. State Fair of VA-2nd band, Ist drums. Thomas Dale Invitational-Ist band, Ist drums, Ist horns Tunstall Invitational-1Ist band, 2nd drums. VBODA State Contest-Ist band, 3rd colorguard. Garmer Classic (N.C.)-Ist band, Ist drums, Ist horns, 2nd flags, 2nd rifles. During halftime, Rob Fabian solos on trumpet under the direction of David Buchanan.
