Junuor Sensor Banquet by Larry On May l the Iunlor class of Spuckard Hugh School entertauned the senior class with a formal banquet In the school audrtorlum The theme of the banquet was Hutch Your Wagon to a Star On the stage was a large wagon lutched to a large star On the back of the stage In huge letters were the words, We Welcome You Star Streamers were crlsscrossed about the room all of whuch were attached to a center star Place cards had a blue background wrth whrte letters Nut cups were owls trimmed wlth stars Center pleces were huge stars with graduatrng cap and dnploma There were blue and whlte candles desrgned wnth a wagon hrtched to a star The program consisted of the followung Invocatron grven by Jerry Stottlemyre mtroductron by the toastmaster, Jean WllllS Barbara Perry gave good advnce rn her speech, Twmkle Twlnkle , Bull Waltner s speech told us to Thank Your Lucky Stars Frank Wendt gave Frxed Stars , Mr Judd issued sound advuse ID speakmg on the theme Hutch Your Wagon to a Star Vlrglnla Oyler gave the benedlctlon The P T A prepared the menu whuch consnsted of the following Dew Drops Style, Floattng Comet gravy , Clouds and Star Dust hot rolls and butter , Full Moon Salad Centaur: Whup Ice cream and Cfllse Moonshune coffee The sophomore gurls served the drnner They wore blue skirts and whnte blouses black aprons wuth srlver stars, and sllver tar halos None of the nervous waitresses spnlled hot coffee on the guests or serveu the salads on the tablecloths Instead of the plates Although It was a formal banquet formalrty wa oon forgotten as every one enroyed pleasant conversatnon wlth one another rls and Boy Sta Near the close of the school year of J3, Jerry Stottlemyre and Jean Wallns were chosen to attend Boys and Girls State, respectlvely Boys State was held at Warrcnsburg, Mlssourl Girls State was held at Wllllarn Woods College at Fulton, Mnssourr, from June 71 to June 28 The purpose of these lnstntutnons rs to teach the boys and gurls of Mrssouru more about their government and to give them better cltlzenshnp tralmnig Each boy or gurl holds a clty, county, or state offuce The candadates glve campangn speeches and are chosen at electrons Then they carry out their duties an whatever offlce thcy hold Jerry and Jean were sponsored by the Peoples State Bank of Spuckard 19 . l nl ' I - rl.
