Our todays are the bricks that build the building that must stand the test of the storms of to- morrow. Have you a member of the class of 1958, built well? Let us live each day carefully, calmly, cheerfully, friendly, independently, and we can banish our worries and God will reward us with a life well spent. SUPERINTENDENT E. C. BRANSTETTER Ohio Northern Universityg Notre Dame Universityg Ohio State Uni- versityg B.S.5 M.A. Superintendent of Schools How pure, at vesper-time The fan bells chiming! God gave me hills to climb, And strength for climbing! We are the sum total of our thoughts. What we are going to be we are becoming--and it is our thoughts that are shaping our destiny. We all should take inventory of our thoughts to really see just what we are thinking, and how we are thinking. If we consistently think thoughts that are colored with bit- terness, jealousy, distrust, poverty, failure, ill health--even grief, it is quite likely that we will have a chance to re- view them ruefully some day ----- . Slam the gates on such thoughts---then you may become the happy person you have a right to become. The story took place in a school with Principal Henly being held captive while an armed bank robber im- personated him and took charge of the school. Not being highly edu- I cated, the robber had his own ideas on how a school should be run. The poor secretary was greatly astonished in the change of policy and discipline although the students really appreciated the new and under- standing principal. All turned out for the best when the robbers were captured and I-Ienly, realizing he had been much too strict, resolved to turn over a new leaf. lr CHARACTERS nfrfmvf, li Gerald ....................... MEMORIES 1888-1957 THE TWO TEMPLESU A builder builded a temple: He wrought with care and skill, Pillars and groins and arches Were fashioned to meet his will. And men said, when they saw its beauty. It shall never know decayg Great is thy skill, O builder, Thy fame shall endure for aye. A teacher builded a temple: She wrought with skill and care, FO rming each pillar with patience, Laying each stone with care. None saw the unceasing effort, None knew of the marvelous plang For the temple the teacher builded Was unseen by the eyes of man. Gone is the builder's temple, Crumbled into the dust, Pillars and groins and arches Food for consuming rust. But the temple the teacher builded Shall endure while the ages rollg For that beautiful unseen temple Was a child's immortal soul.
