They, guided by love, have given us our basic education and understanding. We want them to know that we really appreciate them and the things they have done for us, although at times we don't show it. With this edition of the Echoes goes our love and gratitude to our dear parents . APPRECIATION We also would like to extend our sin- cere appreciation to Miss Deerner, Mrs. Sarka, and Mr. Branstetter who have been our chief advisers during our senior year. They have guided us in the good things and tried to help us grow in every way. Again we say -- Thank you for everything. ff -V S 1:.:- , -'Q. 1 L g -s i W N.. 1 . .. ,Iv 1' ,, V 'Ls ' 4 ,pw 43 fx 9 ' arf' 'ui 4' E Af ' 1 5 ' -If 4 i ft' my .7 f mf, A kv im an Q -133 MA, , , ' ,uw f mf, , ML, , .sw mlm, X00 Zzecazfckfe Zepwufmewzf Q This year book will become a source of pleasure to you in the years to come. You will look back to these years with your classmates and learn that they were pleasant. You are likely to find the. attitudes that you hold as an adult will be much the same as those you had during your school days. By the time you read this your high school days will be over, but you can reflect upon it as a guide for the future. Be pleasant, co-operative, constructive, and ac- tive in some worthwhile undertaking if the yearbook of your adult life is to prove to be pleasant to look back upon. . vw sf f I fm, J ,V ,I A f jfs ,na .s. lf ,, A .Q K A , X 1 A 2 W rr W X W K W W1 SUPREME COURT f 0555 fr , 3 fr- , ., s . , 1 S s -a s 1' ' -' . 5 . . ,, . They gave several concertsg one of popular music for the school, another of semi- classical music for the public. Philip, the track manager, spirits him away in a box and hides him in the workshop of J. Oliver Twibbly, whose interest lies in making the Various Machine, which does various things. The faculty gets word of the things that are happening and begins investigating. Josephine, a professional football player and Rockhead's girl friend, comes to Riverbottorn and causes panic when she proceeds to show ancient Twibbly some of the finer points of the game. Philip, scheduled to marry Vickie that morning, stands her up in the inter- ests of the track teamg and Melville's poem, Beautiful New, in honor of the occasion becomes wasted time. Mrs. Mince, next-door shopkeeper, is almost out of her mind worrying about the Various Machine, which explodes and sends a flywheel spinning through the roof. She also is worried about her daughter, Violet, who wants to capitalize on the wedding postponement by capturing Philip. If Mrs. Gertrude Hawley Stickney hadn't fallen into the Various Machine, things would have been a lot simplerg but from this point on, catastrophe climbs into the driver's seat. However, as in all good farces, the madly tangled com- plications are straightened out in the end. Even Dr. Matilda Guppie, president of Riverbottom U, is enthusiastic about the outcome and offers good Twibbly the use of one of the college labs. Mr. Garfield and his faculty find their jobs at stake, when J. C. Roberts finds that Oakville High School is going to get unfavorable publicity. It all comes about because of Chauncey's theme he had to write unwillingly for English. Chauncey's dream pictures him as the soul rescuer of Georgia Belle Roberts. The students boost him on their shoulders and make him the most popular guy around school. h Miss Thorndyke saves the day, she persuades J. C. and Mr. Garfield that the theme is a masterpiece. The trouble had started when Flash Horner, the star athlete of Oakville, plays a trick on Chauncey for making him sound like a chump in his theme by sending it to a contest. All is well that ends well. Chauncey Jay Mooney asks Georgia Belle for a date, she accepts - much to Flash's envy. 69 BACCALA UPEA TE' MAY I0 CQMNENCE MBNFIVAY I 7 1803 A953 A -if S, BEA u TIFUL anno F' ELEMENTARY ACTIVITIES f-'2Q 'I y AGA 'l... Orchids go to these wonderful lov- ing parents who have with untiring effort given up their leisure time in aiding the band.
