'ROUND THE YEAR WITH THE JUNIORS' This year, our course, proved to be a successful one. We chose Bill Foster as our capable and active President as Pilot, and under him worked his faithful Me- chanic, Ned Miller, Vice Presidentg and Stewardesses, Betty Clantz, Treasurerg Jean Neidhardt, Secretary, and Jean Mack, Re- porter. As our plane has made a good take oH' to adventure through the years of '35 and '36, our only regrets are that twenty-three members have 'bailed out since our Freshman year, making the total enrollment of sixty. Our first stop landed us right in the center of the Junior and Senior Hamburg- er Fry where we spent a very delightful evening and accepted their invitation to attend their Rabbit supper in November. Our plane soared higher as we were ably represented in the Eisteddfod, Glee Clubs, Orchestra, Operetta and the Scholar- ship Tests. On November the first the plane went into a loop-the-loop which attracted a large crowd to see Hold Everything , only to hold their attention for a second loop-the- loop on November eighth to see Be Your- self . We were forced to land for a two weeks' vacation at Christmas, because of heavy snow and the temperature being the lowest it has been for many years. Sailing through under the flying colors of Blue and Gold proved that we were well represented in Athletics: Volleyball, Baseball, and Basketball. The plane fairly went into a tail spin as both boys' and girls' teams of our class rallied to the top by winning the Interclass Tournament. The girls' team was composed of N. Hov- erman QCaptainJ, L. Rockhold, M. Stelzer, M. Bowersock, L. Carey, and V. Wilkins. The boys' team was composed of R. Miller QCaptainJ, N. Miller, R. Ashton, L. Miller, T. Jones, and V. Sei- bert. We chose Lenna John and Ruby Mewhorter for our class Cheerleaders. We owe our compliments to our teachers who showed their acting' talent in the faculty play, 'tThe Poor Rich . M We made 3 big three Point landing by holding the annual reception in honor of the Seniors ay 15. Now as we glide slowly down from the years of '35 and '36 we place our plane in the hangar and leave it there- until next year when we shall continue our flight as Seniors of '37. D. J. M., '37 Twenty-:me

SOPHOMORE JOURNAL President ----- Lavern Shaffer Vice President - Gerald Dicus Secretary-Treasurer Mary Mack Reporter ---- - Doris Fissel On September Il, 1934, seventy-six pupils started their high school careers as Freshmen, destined to be- come the Class of '38 . Under Miss Townsend's excel- lent supervision we spent a very enjoyable year. The next year, on September 2, we enrolled as Sophomores, feeling much more dignified than in the previous year. The census showed sixty-seven, nine having deserted us. We welcomed the Freshmen into our midst by invit- ing them to our weiner roast, which was held September 27 in the high school auditorium. Our girls were successful in defeating the Senior girls in the preliminaries of the Interclass Tournament, but were forced to bow to the noble UD juniors in the finals. Our boys were not so successful, be- ing defeated in the preliminaries by the Junior boys. Although we were represented by only two on the varsity squad, we hope to be represented more extensively next year. Several of our class were on the baseball and volleyball teams. Special notice should be given also to those who were in the High School Boys' Glee Club and the Orchestra. We have enjoyed this year very much under Mr. Hausser's capable supervision and are look- ing forward to our remaining two years. D. F. '38 Tuwvrf y-Iwo
