The administration and faculty supervise and guide the laying of the blocks of our education from the foundation iPrimarySchooU to the top of the wall iHigh Schooll. The administration at Spencerport consists of Mr Wilson, supervising principal of all three of our schools, Mr. Tucker, high school principal, Miss Hoefler, primary school principal, Mr Bernabi, principal of the new intennediate school, Mr Fedoryshyn, vice principal of the high school, a newly created position, and Mr Ingraham, lunior high vice principal, also a new position. These people, in addition to our devoted faculty, guide us in learning, but we as pupils must do the actual lay ing of the building blocks of knowledge for ourselves. 6 l 1 . -,gL lm i ' fr' Lx if A f F. Thirteen gentlemen are entrusted with transporting the students of Spencerport to and from school each day. However, few people realize how many miles these drivers travel per year U30, 000 milesl. 1700 students depend on buses each day. We realize and ap- preciate the big responsibility that t ese men have on every school day. As a young chnld gradually places blocks together and so builds up a flrm foundation so do we, as our obligations as students demand burld up our mund to be better able to face our future The classrooms and materials set up the frame work but only we, through diligent work and study can full ln the maternal that makes the sturdmess which IS needed Mlss Bagley guldes her fust grade class m advancmg theu' readmg skllls Mxss Lxlhbridge conducts a spelling lesson H1 her second grade class 21 . . . . . . . 1 - . . . . . . . . . And of course, there is Captain Wmkle Chip Evans , always willing to lend a hand and never quite doing the right thing. A minor catastrophe started when half the cast failed to follow directions about make-up and appeared as red as clayl We understand that Mike Walker spent a good fifteen minutes trying to get the black stage paint out of his hair. The play again reflected the capable direction of Mr. Betlem, assisted by the student director, Ann Hawkins. 39 ANDERSON JOSEPH ARNE JOHN MARSHALL 1 2 3 Clean up Com 2 Homeroom Consesston Charrman 3 The Noctette is a special vocal group composed of 9 sparkling girls' voices. These girls sing for special assemblies, concerts, and community affairs. Back Row: Staples, Casanzio, Putney, Winters, Jensen, Kenyon, Christy, Mr.l-Iagberg, Curran, Smith, Davenport, Walker, Hamilton, LaCroix, Caton. ln his first year as Varsity basketball coach, Mr. Hagberg faced a discouraging situation. Very few experienced boys, with the exception of Bill Hamilton, came out for the team. This inexperience, com- bined with a lack of height, led to a very disastrous season for the Rangers. Bad luck in the form of numerous iniuries and sick- ness also plagued the team. The hardest fought early season game was against first- half league champion, Hilton--which was won by Hilton 50-42. Prospects for the next year are much brighter with many re- turning lettermen and with this year's fine J.V. team providing potential Varsity players. Due to the lack of experience, the J.V. team started slowl . As the season progressed, Mr. Nowacl's boys acquired the needed experience and confidence. With the joining of Bob Davenport and Jim Curran to the squad it started to unite into one of the best quintets in the County league. The team possessed many future Varsity prospects. iu n i a r varsity basketball vursily wrestling Front Row: Newbauer, Galipeau, Marchesi, Wittman. Row 2: Paige, Poole, Bachers, Peck. Row 3: Mr.Meilnicki, Logan, Dini, Dentlinger. A large turnout greeted Coach Mielnicki's call for wrestlers early in November. The team was quickly whittled down, however, by lots of calisthenics and hard work. Forming the backbone of the team were returning lettermen Gordie Paige, John Bachers, county champ Bernie Wittman, county and sectional champ Gene Dini, and veterans Roy Peck and Doug Drake. Ronnie Marchesi, a freshman surprise, has the best record on the team, and two other first year men, Bert Galipeau and Ricky Contryman, have been looking fine. The other first year var- sity men show promise and are improving as they gain experience. Spencerport is a charter member of a new league this year, the Central Western Conference League. The new league has some tough competition, but the Rangers hope to come out near the top. The S.C.S. matmen won their first meet of the year over Batavia by a score of 36 to 11, and extended the team's winning streak to 27 straight over a four year period. The next meet found the winning streak stopped at 27 straight, as the Rangers dropped one to Letchworth, 29-19. Since then, the Spencerport grapplers have won over Waterloo 28-16, lost to Geneva 31-19, won over Penn Yan 35-22, over Medina 34-10, lost again to Letchworth 27-13, and won over Brockport 42-10. The Rangers have outscored their opponents so far 226 to 156 for an average meet score of 28 to 20. iu n i 0 r varsily wrestling Front Row: B.Drake, P.Caiazzo, Field, Miller, Hager, Conrad, Brown. The Junior Varsity wrestling team, under Coach Charcholla, is mainly for the purpose of developing boys for varsity competition. The iunior matmen have a few meets during the season, and this year are attempting to con- tinue the winning streak established by last year's undefeated J .V. grapplers. 76 3 ., Q S Emi 3 tx?
