Their duties are innumerable and include: to establish rules and regulations concerning the order and discipline of the school; to pre- scribe the course of study by which the pupils of the schools shall be graded and classified; to prescribe the textbook to be used in the school; to purchase sites for recreation grounds and for agricultural sites; to purchase all equipment neces- sary to the proper operation of the school; to handle all school insurance; to hire teachers; to handle all bequests or gifts to the school; to establish the tuition fees of such non-resident pupils as enter the school; to borrow money in anticipa- tion of taxes uncollected; to raise by tax upon the property of the district any money required to pay the salary of teachers employed; to provide medical inspec- tion of all school children. The above list of duties will give you an idea of the work; required of each member of the board. Raymond Flagg The advantages offered by Spencerport High School are due, in great part, to the efforts expended by the Board.
